Introducing a fund to power BDN reporting

Our fiscal sponsor, Eastern Maine Development Corporation, has created the Fund for BDN Reporting to ensure that Maine continues to have a strong, independent daily source of news and information.

Share with your friends and family why local journalism is an essential community service, what difference it has made for you, and why you support it. Many people don’t realize what has been happening to the local news industry, and how many towns, cities and counties are losing local reporting — or what happens to communities when their newspapers disappear. The “State of Local News” report is a good resource to share with folks who are curious.

Why should I donate to local news?

Local news is a public good and essential to our communities like sidewalks, libraries, and schools. It keeps us connected and informed with fact-based reporting on the issues that shape daily life.

From heating assistance to school budgets and local government decisions, every story is written by people who live in and care about Maine.

At the Bangor Daily News, we protect our independence so we can ask tough questions, highlight underserved towns, and serve the public interest. When you support our work, you strengthen your community.
